1 John 3:3–10 (ESV) And everyone who thus hopes in him (Jesus) purifies himself as He is pure. Everyone who makes a practice of sinning also practices lawlessness; sin is lawlessness. You know that He (Jesus) appeared in order to take away sins, and in Jesus there is no sin. No one who abides in him keeps on sinning; no one who keeps on sinning has either seen him or known him. Little children, let no one deceive you. Whoever practices righteousness is righteous, as He is righteous. Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil. No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God's seed abides in him; and he cannot keep on sinning, because he has been born of God. By this it is evident who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is the one who does not love his brother.
Question:
Who are the ones who do not sin?
Answer:
Those who are born of God do not sin.
What makes you a sinner is not that sin is present; it's the practice of sinning that makes you a sinner.
Explanation:
The work of the devil is to practice sinning. If you are of the devil, you will practice sinning continually. If you have been born of God and have joined yourself with Jesus, you will be a keeper of the commandments. Those who are busy obeying the commandments of God will cease practicing sin and live righteously.
As a believer, you are born of God and abide in Jesus. It's not that sin is not abiding in the flesh; it's just that you will not yield to it as a born of God believer. If you are righteous, you will practice righteousness; if not, you will practice unrighteousness.
Notice that it was Jesus, who had no sin, who destroyed the works of the devil. Can you who are born of God do the same? Yes, you can!
What to do:
Be born of God and join yourself in Jesus. Be transformed by Him, and renew your mind with the word of God that obeys Him. When He puts His name on you, walk with the confidence that you are His because you were born into His family.
