How awesome is it to be friends with the world? It's not awesome, but we will get to that.
1 John 2:15-17 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.
James 4:4 You adulterous people! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore, whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.
Question
What does loving the world and being friends with the world get you?
Answer
Your gift from the world is the desires of the flesh, the desires of the eyes, and the pride of life. These are lustful desires which are not of God our Father. After that, you get to be an enemy of God who commits adultery against God. All you have to do is reject God and give your life to the world. In return, the world will love you and give you many gifts that will be burned up at the end of the world. But you will get to be its friend while in the world, so there's that.
Explanation
If you love the world, this deal is for you. You can receive personal gifts from the world that helps you become God's enemy. It's easy: renounce Jesus as the way, truth, and life, and you're in. You can deny the Holy Spirit and live in the spirit of the world every day. (Although it will not be free, it will cost you, so there's also that.)
If you want, you can even confess Jesus with your mouth but not your heart. That might be easier for some, as it's always easier to appear that you're following Jesus closely, but in your heart, you can be buddy-buddy with the lust that the world gives you.
If you love fear, doubt, pride, anger, perversion, being seen as great, and all the other evil the world teaches, get ready because it will come easy for you. Just think, you get to hate people and hurt them with your words, gossip and lie as much as you want, deceive and cheat on those you love, and it's ok because it's your world; they just live in it. These are the things that the world will put in your heart and help you master when you follow its beliefs.
The path to hell and destruction is broad; you won't have any problems finding it in the world.
Be careful, though. Everyone else who loves the world will try to take you out because you are all fighting for the same gifts. The one who is the greatest in the world wins a first-class ticket to hell and damnation, and not least, a consciousness that is lonely and tormented day and night. It's a dog-eat-dog world, and everyone is clawing their way to the top, so be prepared for a fight. Reaping what you sow is challenging, so use that monster inside to defend yourself.
The world hates God
Here's the thing: I think by now you realize that I'm making a point by saying that the world hates God and everything He stands for. As much as "God so loved the world," the world still hates Him and refuses to repent from sin.
The world has nothing for the people of God, so why would we be friends with the world? We have much more to look forward to by living righteously in Christ. If you believe God's word through Jesus Christ, you can reject the world's so-called gift to you and be a witness of God's true love to the world. It will cost you your worldly life, but when it's done, you will watch the world perish as you are saved into eternal life.
What to do
Give your life to Jesus and repent from following the world. The world will hate you, but in the end, the world will be no more, and your reward will be living with Jesus Christ for all eternity.
