The Least Will Do

We’ve been conditioned to think that more is always better, but with God, better isn’t built on more but on the question of God’s will. The way of prosperity is often judged upon the premise that more is better, which is why the subject of more can be deceitful. Gaining an increase is the way of God, and fruitfulness can be an example of God’s many blessings, but blessings of God are not always judged by how much you have but by what God has given you. The truth is that God may not have you in a place of much but rather in a place of little.

Jesus taught that a certain nobleman told his servant he would give him authority over many cities because he had been faithful in little. (Luke 19:17; Luke 16:10) This servant’s honest heart was faithful to what he was given, but his faithfulness to the small things opened the door for much greater things. This is a good example of where to start. A little can lead to great things, but starting with a little is a way for God to test you and see if you can be faithful with more.

Being faithful with what God has given you is what gives you authority with God, even if it’s little.

Thinking that what we have is not enough usually causes us to be unfaithful with what we do have. But God can use even the least to bring forth the greatness of God in your life. Don’t limit God!

So what about what we already have? Is it enough to believe in God?

I say yes and amen!

Looking outside of what God gives you will be a seduction to you. Even when the apostles of Jesus walked with Him, who provided everything for them, they wanted to seek more. I’m not saying that’s bad because that prayer is sometimes needed but at the right time. I am, however, asking if we have realized the power and possibilities of what we already have of God. Look at the prayer that the apostles asked Jesus to answer. They said, “Lord, increase our faith.” You may have also prayed this prayer at some point. But is that the right prayer to pray all the time?

Is it possible that you are so busy asking for more that you forget what you already have is from God? Let’s read what Jesus had to say to them concerning this prayer. He said, “If you had faith like a grain of mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you. Luke 17:5-6

Jesus wanted to ensure that His apostles remembered this one thing; one word from God has enough power to transform your life. The grain of mustard seed is the least of all seeds. God used it to show the greatness that lay within it. So while your prayer is always to receive more faith, you must recognize that more starts with a small seed.

Little faith becomes great when you agree with God’s word.

There will always be limitations with less. God doesn’t ask for more when you have less; if He needs more, He gives you more and then asks for more. It’s not how much you have with God that matters the most; it’s what you do with it that gets God’s attention. What we do for God will always depend on what we have of His to work with. If you are faithful to what you have, you will never go outside of the will of God.

We depend on God, not ourselves; His word will work for us in whatever He sends us. The power to do everything is in the word of God we already possess. Little is a lot with God. So even if it’s the least, it will do.
